5 OPEN POSITIONS - Postdoctoral fellowships
CALL FOR THE SELECTION OF POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS FOR THE 2023-2024 PERIOD
The National Institute of Science and Technology on Social and Affective Neuroscience - INCT-SANI (Brazil) is seeking candidates for FIVE investigator-funded Postdoctoral Fellowships.
The selected candidates will work primarily on the following CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development) INCT-SANI funded studies, examining:
A) the complex interactions between the environment and reinforcement-learning phenotypes using a differential susceptibility model to predict outcomes related to climate actions - in Porto Alegre, RS;
B) a causal modeling of the effects of elections and political ideology on mental health and emotional dynamics - in São Paulo or São Bernardo do Campo, SP;
C) the relationship between Executive Functions and the mental health of children and adolescents and identifying factors that moderate this relationship - in São Paulo, SP;
D) approaches to increase and improve cooperation in human interactions. This project will use behavioral measures - in Brasília, DF;
E) impacts of ideology and political behavior on intergroup relations, polarization, ideological asymmetries, elaboration of scientific thinking, and endorsement of conspiracy beliefs. This project will study basic processes of social cognition, requiring skills in correlational and experimental designs as well as multivariate data analysis and psychometrics - in Brasília, DF.
These studies are incorporated in the activities of the National Institute of Science and Technology on Social and Affective Neuroscience, funded by a CNPq call and under the direction of Professor Paulo Boggio.
The successful candidates will be expected to oversee data acquisition with different instruments and interventions; conduct data analyses; and prepare scientific manuscripts. We strongly recommend candidates to have experience with programming languages, such as R, Python, Julia, and/or Matlab.
For STUDY A, in particular, the successful candidates will be expected to know advanced statistical analysis, especially multi-level and structural equation modeling, data science, and analytics using software such as SAS, RStudio, and SPSS. The candidate should also be able to teach in undergraduate and graduate courses.
For STUDY B, the successful candidates will be expected to plan and supervise the collection of longitudinal surveys and analyze existing datasets using contemporary Bayesian and causal inference methods. Experience in analyzing survey data and proficiency in advanced statistical analyses using R or Python is required. Familiarity with the probabilistic programming language, Stan, is a plus. A background in political science, political psychology, or the psychology of emotions is desired.
The current INCT-SANI’s postdoctoral call seeks candidates to conduct studies at the following universities:
Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS (Porto Alegre, RS) - Study A;
Federal University of ABC - UFABC (São Bernardo do Campo, SP) or University of São Paulo -USP (São Paulo, SP) - Study B;
Mackenzie Presbyterian University - UPM (São Paulo, SP) - Study C;
University of Brasília (Brasília, DF - Studies D and E).
All activities of these Postdoctoral Fellowships will be supervised by Professor Lisiane Bizarro, PhD (Porto Alegre, RS), for Study A; Professor Claudinei Biazoli Jr., PhD (Sao Bernardo do Campo, SP) or Professor Manoel Galdino, PhD (Sao Paulo, SP), for Study B; Professor Elizeu Macedo, PhD (São Paulo, SP), for Study C; Professor Ronaldo Pilati, PhD (Brasilia, DF) or Tiago de Lima, PhD (Brasilia, DF), for Studies D and E.
The selected candidates will benefit from being involved in the research activities of a highly innovative Institute, doing cutting-edge research.
