“Rethinking the Future”: a SANI’s international and interdisciplinary event

Climate change, political polarization, inequity, and lack of diversity are complex and urgent issues requiring a nuanced understanding of the social and affective factors driving them. The emerging fields of social and affective neuroscience and psychology offer valuable insights into these factors and the potential for promoting positive social change. And that is why we are excited to announce our upcoming international and interdisciplinary event: Rethinking the Future: Exploring the role of social, behavioral, and neural sciences in overcoming global obstacles and promoting progress.
In this event, experts from social and affective neuroscience, psychology, philosophy, arts, and related fields will come together to explore the intersections of these challenges. Through talks and interactive sessions, participants will examine the latest research on the cognitive and affective processes underlying climate change denial, the impact of identity and social norms on attitudes towards equity and diversity, and the consequences of political polarization on social cohesion and collective action.
Rethinking the Future will also discuss innovative strategies for promoting sustainability, equity, and diversity by drawing on the potential of social and affective neuroscience and psychology to inform the design of effective interventions and policies. By fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration, we aim to generate insights and strategies that can contribute to a more sustainable, equitable, and inclusive future for all.
